Mental Health Seminar in CHS on Saturday 4/23/2016精神健康講座 (星期六 4/23/2016) -->

Dear CHS community,

Do you know anyone who has mental illness like depression, postpartum depression, OCD or schizophrenia? I do.

Mental illness is more common than we thought. Even kids and teenagers are not immune from it. A lot of school shootings found shooters with mental illness. However, not all mental illnesses lead to violence. Mental illness may go undiagnosed or untreated in Asian Americans due to the cultural stigma against personal weakness.

CHS is glad to have Maggie Luo, the coordinator of NAMI’s CAMHOP,to give us a presentation about mental illness. Please share this event with your friends and relatives. Whoever interested in the seminar are welcome to attend next Saturday from 9:45-10:45 in Rm 102

Maggie will talk about the symptoms of common mental illness so that we can recognize the signals. She will share with us how to seek help and what resources are available. Since there are a lot of families with little kids, she will also touch a little bit on ADHD. Q&A session will follow the presentation. Maggie is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. She will have pamphlets to distribute. The CAMHOP website also has a lot of useful resources and articles http://www.naminj.org/programs/multicultural/camhop/

Attached is the flyer of the event. Feel free to share with your friends and relatives and invite them to attend.
If you have any question, please don’t hesitate to email me. Hope to see you there on Saturday.
