CHS will be offering a brand new adult Special Interest Class for the 2013-2014 school year. The new SIC class will be Cantonese Opera Singing (ASI09) led by Ms. Wing Chan （陳詠娟女士. This class will meet on Saturdays at 11 am and will have a $140 fee for the whole year (i.e. $70 per semester)

Cantonese Opera Singing (ASI09)
Cantonese opera singing is a form of popular art in the Guangdong area. The singing techniques are very different to that of the western opera. The lyrics are composed poetically, yet simple enough to be comprehended and sung by general Cantonese speakers. This interest group aims to promote the appreciation of Cantonese opera singing through listening and practicing some of the traditional and popular songs.CHS will be offering a brand new adult Special Interest Class for the 2013-2014 school year. 粵曲興趣小組 (ASI09)
粵曲須是珠江流域一帶的地方曲種，卻融會了中國不同地方曲式、鑼鼓及唱腔藝術。粵曲亦揉合了詩詞、文學、地方口語等表達方式，譜出了雅俗共賞的唱詞。本小組希望能透過欣賞及習唱一些經典粵曲，與組員分享粵曲藝術。過程中亦會介紹構成粵曲的不同曲式（如梆黃、小曲等）和結構（如區分上下句、平仄、韻腳等)；還有怎樣閱讀工尺譜，以提高欣賞能力和唱曲的樂趣。
