CHS Chinese Video Contest 華仁中文短片比賽 -->

Dear CHS parents and students,

In order to encourage our students to speak Chinese in various dynamic ways, CHS will hold the first CHS Chinese Video Contest this semester.

  1. The presentation must be in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin). The content of the project can be in a broad range.  Below we just list a few examples, but you can use your imagination and submit a video beyond these examples:
    • role play of making phone call
    • cooking demonstration
    • singing a Chinese song
    • reciting a Chinese poem
    • story telling
    • skit
  2. An example from YouTube: How to make jello
  3. Maximum time limit of each video is 2 minutes.
  4. There are four divisions:
    1. Division 1: K1-K2
    2. Division 2: CSL1-CSL6
    3. Division 3: C1-C4
    4. Division 4: C5-C9
  5. Students can submit the project individually or with other students. They can also involves siblings, parents and relatives.  If students of different divisions are in the same video, the video will be put into the higher division (E.g. if two siblings of K1 and C1 are in the same video, the video will be put into Division 3 not Division 1)
  6. Each student can participate in at most one video
  7. Prizes:
    1. 金獎一名:One Gold Prize: Best video in all four divisions as well as its own division: $ 150 gift certificate (from TD Bank)
    2. 銀獎三名:Three Silver Prizes: Best video in its own division: $ 50 gift certificate (from TD Bank)
  8. Submission
    1. Please upload your video through YouTube.  You can set the privacy of video to be “unlisted” so that only people with the exact URL can see the video.
    2. After you upload your video to YouTube, please also fill out the information in the following form
  9. Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges.  The judges will be asked to score the video according to the following criteria:
    1. 中文運用(只計學生):The use of the Chinese Language by the students (50%)
    2. 娛樂性/可觀度:Entertainment: the video is fun and/or pleasant to watch (30%)
    3. 創意:Creativity (10%)
    4. 努力:Effort (10%)
  10. The winning videos will be shown on Graduation Day and may also be put on the internal school journal website (password protected).
  11. Timeline:
    1. Announcement: now (late March)
    2. Submission due date: Jun 5, 2014 Thursday
    3. Judging: the weekend of Jun 7
    4. Announcement of winners: On Jun 14, 2014 (during the graduation ceremony)
  12. Consent to release the material: by participating in this contest, you must consent to release the material to the CHS community because we will show the winning videos (and probably also some of the non-winning videos) on the internal school journal website (password-protected) and during the graduation ceremony.
