Spring Semester Mid-Term Exam
March 24
The Spring Semester Mid-Term Exam is scheduled for this Saturday (there is no exam for the K1 class). Please remind your children to study for the examination.

There will be NO Children Culture Classes this Saturday unless your instructor has informed you otherwise.

Self Defense Class
March 24  •  11:00 am – Noon
There is still time to join the Self Defense Class this Saturday! Christopher Albanese, 4th Dan in ITF TaeKwon Do and 2nd Degree Black Sash in Wushu, will be teaching self-defense at CHS this Saturday. Mr. Albanese is the head martial arts instructor at Legacy Life Center in East Brunswick. Students who sign up will be released from their classes at 11:00 am, after finishing their midterm. The class will be open to anyone age 7 and older. Attendees age 14 and older will be given the option to stay for an additional 15 minutes to learn more intense self-protection techniques. Cost for the session is $10. Children cannot sign-up on their own, a parent must sign child(ren) up at the PTA table.

Ribbon Making Workshop – Everyday Wreath
April 14  •  9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
The popular Ribbon Making Workshop is back; it will be the last workshop for this school year. Learn to make a wreath for any occasion. It’s simple and elegant. We will provide all the materials but donations are welcome to help cover costs. Come join us for a fun creative workshop, good conversation and a cup of coffee/tea in the Cafeteria at the next BYOC Coffee Break on April 14.

Mandarin One Self-paced Online Module
CHS will offer our parents an option to buy the “Mandarin One Online Module” which aims to give our younger students an early exposure to Mandarin pinyin pronunciation.  This module consists of a 12-page booklet that includes all twelve chapters from the CSL1 textbook with the addition of pinyin annotations.  In addition to the booklet, students will also have access to various games and exercises on Quizlet and get themselves familiar with the pinyin pronunciation of words and vocabulary from the booklet. Since this module is based on the CSL 1 textbook, our students should be pretty familiar with most of the words and vocabulary and that should allow them to focus more on learning the pinyin pronunciation.

The “Mandarin One Online Module” is suitable for students from both C and CSL track. Please note that this module does not teach the tone and pinyin system the same way we do in the upper Mandarin classes from 7th to 9th grade. However, our students can interact virtually with our Mandarin class teacher and are entitled to a certain level of support and feedback with the purchase of this module.  This “Mandarin One Online Module” will provide our students a fun-filled and enriching earning experience, especially during the summer months.
